The Linear SLR slide-gate line can need track welding or trolley bracket fabrication, though that’s less common in Concord’s residential installs.

To identify your bracket, look for the Linear model sticker on the motor housing, not the remote. The bracket itself usually has a part number stamped on the underside where it meets the post. Common Linear OEM brackets include the HAE00047 and HAE00052 series, though Linear has revised these twice since 2018 and the bolt patterns don’t always interchange. We carry both the current OEM spec and a heavier-gauge aftermarket bracket we had fabricated locally after seeing too many of the factory units crack at the gusset weld. The aftermarket version adds about $40 to the job but eliminates the repeat failure we see on gates over 16 feet or 600 pounds.

One compatibility gotcha: the Linear ACT-34 third-generation bracket (post-2020) uses metric M10 hardware, while earlier generations used 3/8-inch SAE. Signs Your Linear Welding & Fabrication Is Failing

• The gate pauses or reverses at the same angle every time. The Linear arm bracket has cracked at its weld and flexes under load, triggering the operator’s obstruction sensor. The motor thinks it hit something; what it hit was its own loose hardware.
• You can wiggle the arm where it meets the post bracket by hand. A properly welded Linear bracket has zero play. If the arm moves independently of the post, the weld has separated or the bolt holes have wallowed out from years of micro-movement.
• The bracket shows rust staining or fresh metal at a crack line. In Concord, morning fog off the delta keeps gate hardware damp longer than inland cities. That moisture finds its way into stress cracks and accelerates the failure. Fresh silver metal at a dark rust line means the crack is propagating.
• The gate motor runs but the gate barely moves, or moves unevenly. The Linear operator is delivering torque, but the bracket is absorbing it as flex instead of transferring it to the gate leaf. We measure this as “slop” in the mechanical linkage; anything over 1/8 inch at the arm end warrants inspection.
• Recent welding or grinding marks appear on an older bracket. Someone already tried a field repair. Amateur welds on gate brackets rarely penetrate the full section and often create a harder, more brittle heat-affected zone that cracks worse next season. We cut these off and start clean.
