• Deimos BT A400/A600 arm motors - stripped worm gear in the reduction box. The Deimos line uses a plastic-and-brass worm gear that handles the high-torque conversion from motor to arm movement. After five to seven years in Concord’s dry, hot summers, the lubricant dries to a paste and the brass worm eats into the plastic wheel. We open the housing, photograph the gear wear, and replace with either an OEM BFT gear set or a machined brass aftermarket unit that outlasts the original. The gate gets new grease rated for 300°F, not the factory fill.
• Ares Ultra sliding motors - hall sensor drift causing “phantom” obstacle detection. The Ares counts motor revolutions via a hall-effect sensor to know where the gate sits in its travel. When the sensor gap widens from vibration or the magnet surface corrodes, the board thinks the gate hit something and reverses it randomly. We measure the sensor output with a multimeter, clean or replace the magnet carrier, and recalibrate the limit positions with the gate under actual load, not just free-running.
• Phobos BT swing arms - capacitor swelling in the 230V control board. Phobos units on older Concord installations often run on 230V where the capacitor works harder at startup. The capacitor domes, loses capacitance, and the motor hums without turning. We test capacitance against the board schematic, replace with an exact-match spec, and check whether the incoming voltage is stable. • BFT control boards - water intrusion through the conduit knockout. BFT boards are well-sealed at the gasket, but the lower conduit knockouts on outdoor installations often get punched out and left open.
