• Grinding or popping sound during operation. This is often a fractured roller carriage bracket on L-series slide gates. The gate is still moving, but metal is rubbing metal where a weld has failed. The sound is the gate frame contacting the track or the operator base.
• Recent collision or impact damage. A vehicle bump, landscaping equipment strike, or even a heavy branch can stress a weld that was already marginal.
