THALIA P units use a 4-wire bus that carries both power and audio, while older THALIA Basic models run separate 2-conductor audio and 24V power lines.

We identify the correct replacement three ways: the silver BFT data plate inside the housing (model and firmware revision), the connector type on the existing backplane, and whether the gate controller is a BFT Deimos, Ares, or Phobos series unit. The Deimos BT A400, common on Concord’s 2008-2016 residential installs, uses the older 4-pin Molex connector that is not backward-compatible with the current 6-pin JST harness without an adapter pigtail we fabricate in the field.

• Keypad accepts the code but the gate does not move. This usually points to a failed relay on the keypad’s backplane, not the gate motor. The membrane still registers the press and lights up, but the signal never reaches the controller. • Proximity reader works intermittently or not at all. The 125kHz or 13.56MHz coil antenna separates from the main PCB through thermal cycling. In Concord’s inland valley climate, summer surface temperatures on south-facing pedestals reach 140°F regularly, and the solder joint fatigues after four to five seasons.
• Display is dim, flickering, or shows garbled characters. The OLED or LCD module is failing, often from moisture intrusion past a compromised gasket.
